Santa Clara County operates three General Aviation (GA) airports; Reid-Hillview Airport (RHV) in SanJose, Palo Alto Airport (PAO) in Palo Alto, and San Martin Airport (E16) between Gilroy and Morgan Hill. These three airports comprise the GA reliever system for Mineta San Jose International Airport, have over 1,300 based aircraft and conduct nearly half a million flight operations per year. The County Airports are independently funded (Airport Enterprise Fund) from user fees and aviation business leases and do not receive any general fund subsidies from the County. The airports create over$1 million annually in property taxes and sales taxes that are distributed to the County and local communities. There are 12 Fixed Base Operator (FBO) aviation businesses and numerous sub-tenant businesses at the three airports that employ well over 100 employees. The direct and indirect impact ofthe three airports on the local economy is over $15 million.
