About
The San Jose Downtown Association (SJDA) is a non-profit membership based organization founded in 1986. SJDA represents business and property owners working to enhance the vitality and livability of downtown San Jose. SJDA advocates for ongoing improvements to Downtown's cleanliness, security, aesthetics and delivery of services; enhances the image of Downtown and attract new visitors through year-round marketing, public relations, and special events; facilitates the development of parking, housing and retail; provides assistance to Downtown business and property owners on day-to-day concerns, working to cut 'red tape' and find new solutions; and builds coalitions among Downtown's work force, residents, property owners, civic organizations and local government. SJDA produces events such as the Downtown Farmers' Market, Music in the Other Park, Music in the Park and Downtown Ice, as well as the 24-hour event information line (408) 279-1775, extension 40-44. SJDA produces the following marketing and PR materials: downtown dining gift certificates, Downtown Dimension newsletter, Downtowner Online electronic newsletter, parking advertising and collateral, neighborhood marketing materials, walking maps, holiday and event brochures and more. SJDA manages three websites: SJDA's website (www.sjdowntown.com), the downtown parking website (www.sjdowntownparking.com), and the San Pedro Square web site, (www.sanpedrosquare.com). Additional SJDA programs include Downtown Doors, window-painting, holiday lighting and decor, St. James Park initiative and various committees.
